Retrofit refers to the process of upgrading existing buildings with modern systems and materials to improve energy efficiency, comfort, and environmental performance without the need for demolition or rebuilding from scratch.

When I began my journey as a Retrofit Coordinator, I realised how powerful this approach could be. Whether it’s insulating walls, installing air-source heat pumps, or integrating solar panels, retrofit allows us to take old buildings and future-proof them – for people, the planet, and profitability.

Why does this matter?

By adding external wall insulation, replacing outdated heating systems, and switching to LED lighting, tenants saw immediate reductions in their monthly energy spend, while the landlord increased the building’s long-term value and rentability.
